Facelift
The technical term for a facelift is rhytidectomy, derived from rhytid, the Greek word for wrinkle, and the suffix-ectomy, which means “the removal of”. This procedure has evolved to minimize downtime and discomfort, frequently having the patient back to their lifestyle in 10-14 days. People often incorrectly use the term facelift to describe total facial rejuvenation which is achieved by eyelid surgery, brow lift, facelift and often, laser or chemical peel. We divide the facelift into three parts: cheek, temporal and forehead components. Some patients require a full forehead lift during a facelift while others do not. We decide the extent of the procedure at the time of the consultation.
Eyelid
Blepharoplasty, also know as eyelid surgery or an eyelid lift, is a surgical procedure that rejuvenates saggy, puffy eyes. This is done by removing excess fat and skin from the area of treatment, the upper or lower eyelids. This procedure is done to improve the patient’s appearance, as well as improving their vision. Blepharoplasty can also tighten the tissue and muscles surrounding the eyes. This procedure is often combined with facelift and brow lift surgery, as well as injectable fillers.
Eyebrow & Forehead
A brow lift, also know as a forehead lift, targets the brows and the forehead. The goal is to smooth forehead lines and to raise the brows, giving the person a younger, more alert appearance. To do this, Dr. Foster repositions or adjusts the muscles above the eyes and across the forehead. He also relieves the muscles that create the vertical lines between the eyebrows, commonly known as the 11s.
Chin
Chin augmentation or chin enhancement is a procedure that can alter the underlying structure of the face. This can provide a better balance to the facial features. The medical terms genioplasty and mentoplasty are used to refer to the addition and reduction of the patient’s chin.
Cheeks
Cheek augmentation is a cosmetic procedure that is used to enhance the cheeks on a patient’s face that is lacking sufficient facial contour. Cheek augmentation can be done surgically or non surgically.

Ears (Otoplasty)
Otoplasty, commonly referred to as ear pinning, corrects the size or placement of an individual’s ears. Otoplasty is generally performed on children ages of 4-14, as the ears finish growing by 4, and otoplasty can prevent adolescent ridicule, but the procedure is also performed on adults upon occasion.
Lip Enhancement
Lip augmentation is a cosmetic treatment done in our office to increase the size of the lips. At FosterMD, we use injectable fillers such as Juvéderm or Restylane to augment the lips. During lip augmentation, either just the upper or lower lip can be augmented, or patients may choose to have both done at once.
Liposuction
Some people develop a fatty, double chin early in life, destroying the natural curvature of the chin and neck. Others develop a floppy-skinned, “turkey gobbler” deformity. This is caused by weakening of the muscles forming a band from the chin to the base of the neck. Liposuction is then used to remove the excess fat in this area.
Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty (nose surgery) is one of the most frequently performed plastic surgery procedures. During rhinoplasty, the nose is reshaped, reduced or augmented to improve its appearance. Rhinoplasty may be performed to correct a birth defect, or repair an injury such as a broken nose. It is also often performed strictly for cosmetic reasons.
