Botox Cosmetic

The wrinkles caused by the everyday smile, laughing and frowning are the result of muscular contraction. The facial muscles have threads of attachments to the skin. When the muscles contract, the skin buckles, resulting in the mimetic wrinkles. The more you show your emotions, the deeper and more wrinkled you appear. We have been relatively unsuccessful treating these deeper mimetic wrinkles until now. The most recent advance is a procedure known as cosmetic denervation using BOTOX® Cosmetic. This is used to improve and soften the appearance of crow’s feet, frown lines, laugh lines, and other dynamic wrinkles.

Dysport

DYSPORT® is an FDA-approved injection treatment that reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by relaxing facial muscles on the forehead. Similar to BOTOX® Cosmetic, DYSPORT® is injected directly into the site of wrinkles to prevent the underlying muscles from contracting. However, DYSPORT® can diffuse muscles one to three centimeters from the injection point, while Botox can only reach as far as one centimeter, allowing for results that reach further areas with just a single injection.

Juvéderm

With age, most people notice that their face takes on “weight” at the lower region. A youthful face is more V-shaped, with structure and contours angling from wider to narrower as we look down the face. An aging face is shaped more like a square; its sharper angles along the jawline soften and sag and lines form around the nose and mouth.

The signs of aging can be dramatically reduced and even reversed through the strategic use of dermal fillers like Juvéderm.

Restylane

Restylane is a long-lasting cosmetic filler that provides dramatic results for improving the appearance of facial lines, wrinkles and folds. This non-surgical solution restores volume and fullness to the skin, plumps up lips, and fills in Restylane® is a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid, a natural sugar found within the body that provides youthful volume and elasticity to the skin. As hyaluronic acid is lost during the natural aging process, facial volume is diminished and wrinkles begin to develop. Restylane® can help fight these signs of aging by restoring volume and fullness, while softening moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Restyalne® injected into the lips restores fullness. The cosmetic results are visibly immediate, bestowing you with a more youthful and invigorated look.

Volbella

In order to combat thinning lips, we use a Volbella injection that can provide the tissue within the lips the right amount of necessary hyaluronic acid (HA) to restore lost volume and enhance natural lip contours. Unlike many of the previously used dermal fillers for lip augmentation and enhancement, Volbella will last up to one full year. Volbella is a smooth gel that is injected directly into the lips, focusing on the lip border, to provide shape and fullness to lips that were always on the thinner side, or those that have lost their shape. Injections using Volbella are done by following the natural shape of the lips, starting in the top lip so that the bottom lip can be measured and shaped to proportion and match evenly to its partner.

Sculptra

Sculptra® Aesthetic injectable is used to reverse the signs of facial fat loss that occur with aging. By restoring collagen, which decreases as the body ages, it fills out shallow-to-deep wrinkles and folds that run from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds). It is not appropriate for use in the eye and lip areas.Sculptra Aesthetic’s main component is an alpha hydroxy acid called poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which is a safe and long-lasting synthetic (artificially created), biocompatible (can be used harmlessly in the body), biodegradable (able to be broken down by the body) substance. PLLA has been used for more than 20 years in many surgical products, including dissolvable sutures and soft-tissue implants.

Lip Augmentation

Lip augmentation is a cosmetic treatment done in our office to increase the size of the lips. During lip augmentation, either just the upper or lower lip can be augmented, or patients may choose to have both done at once. At FosterMD, we use injectable fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane to augment the lips.
